Tilda Swinton – GQ’s Woman of the Year

GQ-Tilda SwintonTilda Swinton photographed by Craig McDean for GQ

As a juxtaposition to all the sparkling Victoria Secret wings from yesterday’s London spectacle that will be all over the place from today and 1 week forward, I want to give a shout out that my own forever girl crush and uber cool woman, on and off screen, Tilda Swinton, has been named US GQ’s 2014 Woman of the Year. Read the fascinating interview here.

This woman was my muse when I first cut my hair and started developing my new style persona. She inspired me to start my blog. I agree with you, so refreshing to see this in the midst of flying angels and shopping sales. There is still an appreciation of art and elegance in the fashion world. Interesting it comes from a men’s magazine, no?

I have been a fan of Tilda ever since I saw “Orlando”. By appearing in Dawid Bowie’s clip and then my favourite director’s movie (Only lovers…) she just cemented her timeless icon status in my books 🙂

Tilda Swinton is truly refreshing. People like her should be celebrated more often. I could get into a heated pop culture rant at this moment, but I’d rather control my urge and simply enjoy the fact that a man’s magazine is celebrating such a talented human being.
