The Philo Factor: Reinventing Cool

Northern Light-Phoebe Philo-VogueFestival2014-photo by Hedvig Opshaug

This weekend I headed over to the Vogue Festival with especially one talk in mind, Celine’s creative designer, Phoebe Philo in conversation with Vogue UK’s editor-in-chief, Alexandra Shulman. It was such a rare occasion, Phoebe who hardly never speaks in public, being quite protective of her private life, shared her thoughts on her inspirations, aesthetics, women sexualisation and beauty, female leadership, juggling motherhood and work, and so much more, and I deeply regret I never recorded the 1 hour conversation with this super inspiring woman who radiates integrity.

But in case you ever wondered …
– Phoebe Philo doesn’t like compromising!
– The man reason why Celine is not sold online is that the fabrics and designs should be experienced in real life.
– Phoebe doesn’t overall mind the highstreet copying of her designs, and referred to Coco Chanel’s famous quota, “Imitation is the highest form of flattery!”.

I love her style…..I think she appreciates that not every women can afford Celine….and is probably more relaxed with highstreet copying….and lets face it….sometimes it;s hard to tell the difference…between the real thing…

Actually when it comes to Celine I don’t agree, the fabrics, craftsmanship and seams are beyond any highstreet-copy-ability. Actually Phoebe said it as well, it might look like Celine from a distance but not when you get up close.

She’s very cool and very inspiring, indeed. I think it’s because she takes her job as a real pro, and that’s always very inspiring.
