It’s been confirmed that the legendary French fashion house Yves Saint Laurent will be rebranded to Saint Laurent Paris. The “name change” is part of the newly appointed creative director of the house, Hedi Slimane’s, way of moving the house forward, reports WWD, however the YSL logo will remain the same.

thats going to be strange…

Not sure how I feel about that, the name evokes heritage and old glamour and immediate recognition, but I am sure they know what they are doing and we’ll all get used to it
I don’t like this.
I can’t help wondering why? didn’t think they needed a rebrand…

Not sure this is a good move.
?? that does not sound good in my ears, then again the world got used to Christian Dior becoming just Dior. The ‘Paris’ appendum is tacky and unnecessary in any case.
i think it’ll take some time to get used to this…
I loved Yves Saint Laurent, I am sad about the name change!!!
I, for one, understand why the maison would want to modify a few concepts – modernity and higher ratings, after all. Nonetheless, it is sorely a risky move, because ysl is one of the most recognisable trademarks around. What bothers me, however, is the fact that the maison is based on Yves’ legacy.
Is it purely a marketing strategy? It seems that more than SLP, it will become SLimane Paris.
Time will say whether this bold move is a valid one. Not for me, anyway.
xx
I donĀ“t think that is a good idea at all. If they want to make an underline, they could name that “Saint Laurent Paris” but not the mainline. I do not see the point, really.
The most random thing such an iconic fashion house can do. Change the name??? I can’t get my head around it as to why?
