The buzz of 2011

The most buzzed about shoes-to-fill of 2011 in the fashion industry has to be who’s gonna take the lead as creative director at Dior after Galliano’s sudden break-up. After 9 months of speculations latest rumor has it that Marc Jacobs, Tisci and others are out of the running and that Raf Simons is in discussions for the job.
If this turn out to be true I think it’s a little odd match, clean and minimalist Raf Simons at extravagant Dior? Personally I hope he stays in his seat at Jil Sander’s and continue to deliver his beautiful minimalist collections with a touch of couture.

Definitely, I agree. I think that by this point they’re just trying to see which “big thing” will fill his shoes, I would say it’s better to start fresh with someone a little less known but a little more Dior,
    that’s just my opinion :p

Always great to read your blog!!

in my humble opinion, i think they should take a gamble on a relatively unknown but huge potential for success designer just like they did at Givenchy with Tisci and look how that turned out.

Agree! Wouldn’t want him to leave his excellent job at Jil Sander. Still, regarding recent Dior menswear, the leap from the Raf Simons/Jil Sander collections is not that big. Otherwise I second the point the nyanzi report is making..

Raf and Jil Sander are a perfect match — the minimalism and clean lines, but high quality and craftsmanship. Dior is so frivolous, and you need someone more baroque-minded to take it over. Definitely not Raf. Totally weird if he would agree.

Raf should definitely stay at jil sander, its a perfect match. He does not fit dior at all. I say, bring back galliano. No one can truly fill his shoes.
