After a few disappointing collections from my favorite designers in Paris, it warmed my heart to see Balenciaga live up to my expectations, well, at least the first half. Nicolas Ghesquière once again plays with traditional structures and adopt them into wearable looks and as usual the opulent fabrics are in focus. The silhouettes are volume on top and narrow lower parts and the oversized shoulders as seen in the Resort Collection 2012 are here in forms of oversized color blocking jackets, tops and blouses paired with super-tiny shorts or high waisted trousers. The other part of this collection consisted of patch-worked dresses and more extreme silhouettes not really up my street but these are some of my favorite looks, the jackets looks absolute fantastic, not to mention the several metallic pants and footwear. If you’re curious you’ll find the whole collection at style.com.
