On the 4th day of London Fashion Week the Georgian born, now London based designer, David Koma presented his Spring /Summer Collection 2011, I did not attend his show but I’ve heard from those who where there it was amazing.
Anyway, i looked through his collection and wanted to have a closer look on it at the New Gen Installation on Tuesday but I had no idea the designer would be there himself. Me and my mum admired every piece, studied details and fabrics and about 5 minutes into the conversation the pieces fell in place and I asked him, “eeehh, are you the designer, are you David Koma?” Silly me, If I had just watched the video from the show I would have recognized him immediately but as I’d only looked through images I wasn’t sure how he looked like. We introduced and he was such a sweet guy and happily explained us about his collection.
I see the reference to swans and ballet in his sculptural dresses, like modern swans with an edge, not dolls, he confirmed me that was also the thoughts behind. For those of you who knows me really well also know that Swan Lake is my absolute Achilles and has been ever since I was a little girl.
When I then heard that he also used a beat-up-mix of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake in his show I was completely sold and even slightly more bitter I wasn’t there. See and listen for yourself below.

This was a very fine presentation of the designer and his collection Hedvig. Yes u were delighted and i remember u said this collection was one of those u liked best of all.
And Koma himself was indeed a sweet young man.
Great site. A lot of useful information here. I’m sending it to some friends!
