14 British designers have gathered and customised their very own unique Christmas Jumper handmade by Wool And The Gang in partnership with Westfield and British Fashion Council for Save The Children UK. The jumpers are being auctioned as we speak with entries closing today and tomorrow. Unlike other auctions it’s the lowest unique bid that wins the prize, see savethechildren.org.uk for closing times and how to enter. Happy bidding for a good cause!
Winter chill has slowly arrived and this week I’ve wrapped up in layers of wool. I’ve also rediscovered the practicality of thigh high boots that are the best leg warmers there is, and I have the feeling this pair are gonna be quite useful if this season’s weather forecast comes true. I’ll just make sure to leave my leather mini’s at home!
Oh how we love how a pair of sneakers complete an otherwise not-so-sneaker’ish outfit, don’t we? Loving the styling in Vogue Netherlands December issue, and I seriously need to add a pair of dark coloured Air Max’es to my wishlist below.
It’s that time of year again when it’s allowed to make wishlists way beyond your “needs”, and here are some picks (treats!) that would be very welcomed on my doorstep!
18-karat Gold earrings by Noor Fares, Card holder by Saint Laurent, Dress by Stella McCartney, Camisole by Lover, Diamond Pave ring by Monica Vinader, Morrissey-Autobiography, Roses De Chloe EDT, Lace pumps by Jimmy Choo, Cosmetic bag by Gucci.
Pink, perhaps the colour of 2013, and spring 2014? Yup, some pink pieces have found their way to my wardrobe too, and I particularly love this skirt by Carven, where the thick wool fabric sort of has a life on it’s own. It has various styling possibilities, and goes with everything, perhaps not so much with black tights, but time will see.
Outfit worn a few weeks back, today a totally different story, winter has arrived, so Happy Chilly Sunday noon world!
The coming season is trending towards eccentric statement jewellery, especially big chunky bracelets in all varieties and colours. I personally prefer mine more on the sleek side though, and wouldn’t mind this new addition in the Hermès family, the Attelage bracelet, a minimal beauty in rose gold and silver, yum!
Yesterday The Oxford Dictionaries announced that the Word of The Year 2013 is ‘selfie’, a term that most social media users are more than familiar with.
Just like Matthew Schneier at style.com, I find the list of runners up a lot more interesting, like the term showrooming for instance. I admit I showroom from time to time for various reasons, but had no idea these actions had a name.
Do you showroom?
showrooming: the practice of visiting a shop or shops in order to examine a product before buying it online at a lower price. [ORIGIN early 21st century: from SHOWROOM ‘a room used to display goods for sale’.]
Bare legs in November? Yup, that has been totally possible in London without freezing your legs off. I’m not the one who spend my outdoor life in a cab (!), but with layers of wool, cashmere and a coat, bare legs has worked surprisingly well this mild season. However it’s inevitable, and as temperatures are dropping the dreaded tights(!), will eventually be put back on again, but until then I’m channeling my inner viking!
Who’s not in on comfy dressing? Well, I am for sure, and I raise my hand for monchrome dressing too! Totally fell in love with this new set while trying it on (in blue), and I can’t wait to wear it out for drinks paired with heels or with slippers for a chilling look, hereby my picks of the week in stores, by Stella McCartney Resort and the trousers and blouse come as separates.
This fall is not all about checks ala laundry bags (hello Celine!) and traditional tartan in various colours. Lets not forget about the ‘Prince of Wales’, a timeless plaid that is not that distinctive (and so 2013!) as many of the checks out there at the moment. Hence, this coat is a long time keeper that I’ll also be wearing when we’re all over the “checked era”!
Joseph is one of my favourite british go-to-brands, and after having had a close-up look at the SS14 collection they will retain their position with polished clean cut silhouettes of high quality. Exciting news to other Joseph-fans is that the label will show on the London Fashion Week schedule for the first time in February 2014, and as a minimalist Scandinavian living in London I applaud that!
Add Norwegian jewellery brand Tom Wood on your radar if you haven’t already. Lust-worthy (!), timeless, solid, unisex rings in sterling silver, gold and quality gemstones (no platings in sight!), are my favourites, but the line also includes necklaces and earpieces, all with an androgynous feel.
No matter what’s going on out there I always come back to the classics, so here we go again. Sporting these cropped suit trousers a lot lately, they are real all rounders that I either wear with the matching blazer or pretty much everything else in my wardrobe.
With memories of days in the City in the back of my head I personally always avoid very tailored pieces like this with a white shirt, while I see others manage to make it look everything but office’y, but I’m up for the challenge.
Happy Sunny Sunday you lovely ones!
