Natalie Massenet

One of the women I find truly inspiring in every way is beautiful Natalie Massenet, who founded Net-a-Porter in 2000. A stylish woman whose entrepreneurial skills managed to turn a fashion business idea into a successful worldwide expanding multi-million-dollar online industry, still with her feet well planted on the ground and a smiley and warm personality.

I ran into her outside Burberry’s SS12 this week in Kensington Gardens while she was waiting for her car, I asked to take her picture and she kindly said yes and even complimented me. Beauty, brain, success and humanity in one package, that’s something that should inspire us ladies!

Notice that gorgeous animal-printed calf hair clutch from Newbark, officially on my wishlist.

I’ve had these wedge brogues by Acne on my mind for a while but I haven’t been convinced of the color, was hoping they would come in burgundy, wouldn’t that have been just perfect?
By the way I’m gonna sell off several pair of shoes, my wardrobe is full and something’s gotta go, Acne Track, Vega and Louboutin’s are among the sales items, I’ll give you a link when it’s up.

It’s been almost a week since I got back from NY and my 2 luggages are still well planted on my living room floor, still unpacked. So these last couple of days I’ve had to wear stuff that was hiding inside my closet, just to avoid ironing, not my favorite thing and I’m totally useless at it. Still my stuff needed to be steamed, and my trick so far in life (a tip from my mum) is the typical bathroom steaming, well, my flat looks like a sauna a little to often now so my next buy is definitely gonna be a steamer.

Anyway, yesterday was the last day of fashion week in London and I wore a skirt and sandals by Balenciaga, jumper, bag and bracelet by Acne, sunnies Ralph Lauren and ring YSL.

3.1 Phillip Lim SS12

So many collections to absorb from what we’ve seen this fashion month and Phillip Lim’s SS12 collection is among my favorites so far, I mean, what is not to love about it? Sporty-chic, cool, wearable, clean cut, not to mention the gorgeous fresh color scale of soft pastels like lavender, peachy-orange and pink, also, the footwear here looks really interesting. This is definitely one of  the collections that’s gonna be haunting me through the darker months ahead, I want to wear every single piece and look right now and not wait for next spring.

The end

London Fashion Week has now come to an end, today’s men’s shows in London are overlapped by major shows in Milan like Gucci, John Richmond and Alberta Ferretti. Wish I could have left for Milan as well but I’ll have to cool down a bit now after a few hectic weeks. Luckily there will now be time to go through images and reflect on what has been shown on runways, while having one eye open for shows running in Milan.

I left the David Koma show with yesterday with a great group of people you might already know, from left, Jen, Matthew Zorpas, Kit Lee, Ivan and Sandra behind the blogs The Style Crusader,  Styleslicker, Facehunter and 5 inch and up.

Now on the run for some menswear shows and there’s the end!

On track

Day 4 of LFW I jumped into a pair of track pants, yes, they are the ones I blogged about earlier and was thrilled to find them in the Phillip Lim store in NY, they are in wool and oh so comfortable, gonna be a total favorite this winter for sure. Initially I wore them with rolled up legs but they fell down when I was on the run and I wore them with shirt and shoes from Cos, jacket Acne, bag Celine, watch Tagheuer, bracelets Hermes, Kenneth Jay Lane and Acne and sunnies also Mr. Lim.

My inspo

Celine’s pre-fall collection inspired me to get dressed this morning, leather wrap skirt by Alexander Wang and a chunky heavy burgundy turtle knit from Zara I got earlier this week thanks to a great tip from a lovely reader. Though it’s not wool it might be a new favorite jumper in my wardrobe and you’ll find it in stores now.

David Koma SS12

The last show for me today was David Koma’s beautiful SS12 collection at Waterloo station, his trademark pieces, sculptural dresses with metal embellishments were there as usual but also what looked like aztec-cut-outs tops and trousers. I finally figured out how to upload my iphone videos, really poor quality I know and I suggest you reduce the sound, sorry…… See the whole collection here.

Outside Unique

Anna Wintour

Pixie Geldof

Scott Schuman aka The Sartorialist

Anna Dello Russo

Hi guys, don’t have time to say much right now but here are some snapshots outside yesterday’s Topshop Unique show which had a life of it’s own. The models had golden hair, Anna Wintour showed up protected by a massive bodyguard, Pixie Geldof arrived in jeans and then ran off in a long dress (strange behaviour!), Scott Schuman seemed like a cool guy, Joanna Hillmann looked as stunning as always and Anna Dello Russo showed up in a whole white-suit-look with a feathery hat. There’s so much more but now I’ve gotta run, see you soon!

Acne SS12

Acne presented their spring/summer 2011 collection yesterday eve, just wish I was there as this was one of the shows I really would have appreciated seeing live. Instead, like many of you out there, I waited for the runway images online, but it was worth waiting for, knowing the latest change of direction of this brand made it even more exciting.

As I haven’t seen any reviews yet I don’t know what Jonny Johansson had on his mind behind this collection but here are some of my favorite looks that I wouldn’t mind have worn straight away. Wide legged bermudas, cropped tops and trousers, knee length skirts and leather in the color scale we’ve seen around lately, mustard greens and yellows, blues, orange and pink, and yes pink, there it is again. I do find the star prints a bit hard to swallow though, neither Miu Miu or Dolce&Gabbana have managed to convince me so far but if anyone could, perhaps Acne, it’s got months of growing potential but I doubt it….. See the whole collection here and judge for yourself.

Saturday, day 2 of London fashion week, kicked off with wonderful weather so I took the risk of wearing a short dress with sleeves, but later in the noon temperatures dropped and heavy rain surprised us all at the Somerset House. London Fashion Week’s Daily were used as umbrellas and people fled the scene, quite a funny scenario to observe from my view, safely inside one of the coffee shops. Today however was a different story but I’ll share that with you tomorrow.

I wore dress and sunnies by 3.1 Phillip Lim, boots Topshop, watch Michael Kors, bracelet Margiela, ring YSL and bag Acne.

Ann-Sofie Back Atelje SS12 – Back SS12

Ann-Sofie Back’s SS12 collection was a follow-up of the clean, fresh looks of the previous season with three themes running throughout the collection, the tiny belt detail, standout darts and the boning details. And on so many shows I’ve seen so far in NY and London, fuchsia or hot pink is included, really a color to watch out for next spring. As usual Ann-Sofie’s design is right up my alley, so effortless chic, sophisticated, unexpected elements and a boost of chunky jewellery and accessories.

The idea behind this collection was based on Jantelagen (a Scandinavian cultural attitude) and if you’re not already familiar with it the ten rules state:

  1. Don’t think you’re anything special.
  2. Don’t think you’re as good as us.
  3. Don’t think you’re smarter than us.
  4. Don’t convince yourself that you’re better than us.
  5. Don’t think you know more than us.
  6. Don’t think you are more important than us.
  7. Don’t think you are good at anything.
  8. Don’t laugh at us.
  9. Don’t think anyone cares about you.
  10. Don’t think you can teach us anything
An the eleventh rule is: Don’t think that there aren’t a few things we know about you.

Seeing green

I’m totally into green, worn it a lot lately and today I wore a beautiful sample in form of a Phillip Lim dress. I wore it with boots by Topshop and bag by Acne, I’ll show you the whole outfit later on, now getting ready for drinks out though I’m totally jetlagged. Wishing you all a lovely Saturday eve!

I spotted Bryanboy outside the Phillip Lim show in New York day 7, he seemed so sweet in person and I loved his buttoned up shirt, printed bermuda shorts and Jason Wu python bag.

I know I haven’t posted much outfits the last week but it will come, here’s from the last day of NYFW and my feet needed a complete break from heels so I jumped into something casual which also has become my favorite ready-to-go-look, short dress+vest. I wore my brand new Phillip Lim glasses which are similar in style to the ones from Celine’s A/W collection that unfortunately has sold out everywhere I’ve been.

I wore silk dress and bag by Acne, vest Bik Bok, shoes Prada, sunnies Phillip Lim, watch Michael Kors and various bracelets.
