Wine Tasting

Yesterday eve was great and we tried some excellent wines. Even though I’m a Bordeaux kind of girl the Burgundy ended surprisingly up as my favorite.

New Year’s Eve

Yesterday eve was a blast, and so far this year has been pretty good, I simply have a good feeling about this year ahead. All my plans yesterday about booking a taxi before hand ended up in nowhere (did I mention getting wiser with the years?) and as they practically close down the traffic in the West End on New Year’s Eve I ended up sporting a taxi bike to get to the restaurant, not recommended in a short dress in December. After a fabulous dinner at the Spanish part of Aqua observing the firework at London Eye from the balcony we headed over to a night club to catch up with a group of friends.

I danced through the night in a dress from Lanvin for H&M, heels Cos, leather clutch American Apparel, ear cuff  Line&Jo and pink lips.

Vegetarians look away!

Last Friday I tried a new good address, Hawksmoor, a british steakhouse in Sevel Dials in Covent Garden and it was excellent. This is the place to go for people who fancy a high quality steak and it managed to get on my top 3 list for steak places in London. What can I say, the image speaks for itself and this lovely cut was only for 2 people.

The entrance of this place is so discrete, I walked down the stairs and started off with a drink in the bar, when we were told the table was ready we were guided into a big hall, completely fully seated, felt like I was given access to the underground secret society for meat lovers. The atmosphere and wine list excellent, my only complain though was that the service was a bit slow, took us 3 hours from start to finish, but hey, perhaps they just wanted their guest to enjoy the meal in piece, the meat codex.

As for all great addresses in London a booking is necessary, even weeks beforehand, in this place I would recommend you to even prebook your preferred cut of meat as well, otherwise you’re risking they’ve run out of it.

Due to the cold this last month I felt my skin got so much drier and after trying a tester on this hydrating masque from Dermalogica last week I bought it today, it really does make a difference and combined with a few more tester’s I was given I’m hoping to get my skin back on track.

I’ve spent hours in Selfridges today shopping Christmas presents and brunching at Obika Mozzarella Bar while observing people shopping loss at Chloe and McQueen.

For the first time in my life I needed help by the customer service to carry my stuff out of the store into a taxi, having that said the bags were full of heavy kitchen equipment for home, would have been so much more fun if they contained shoes, bags and fur’s right.

Christmas Market

On Saturday I strolled around Sloane Square and visited the Market where they sold lovely cheeses, saucissons, organic jams and tons of other stuff, a whole bag of delicatessen followed me home that day. I love these weeks before Christmas despite I strongly dislike the darkness and cold and there’s nothing that reminds of Christmas in my own home except that the heater is running on max (to my parents if you read this, don’t worry, I’ll appreciate all that when I come home). As for now decorations and singing in the streets are the only reminder but oh so cozy.

Out of the door in a minute, dinner at a great French place in Covent Garden, ciao everyone.

Cafe Boheme

Scallops, Goat Cheese Salad, Sweet Almond Trout and Tarte Tartin

Cafe Boheme, a french bistro in the middle of Soho, not spectacular, reasonable prices, live music, just a simple place to pop into for breakfast, lunch or dinner, simplicity is just what I love with this place and the food is worth every penny. Like today, strolling around Covent Garden feeling tired and with a huge appetite cause of a late night earlier and then, like so many times before, we dropped by, the dishes above were excellent and accompanied by latino musicians and a bohemian atmosphere, worthy it’s name and worth a try if you’re next by.

All leather

Yesterday eve I discovered a turkish restaurant, Sofra in Covent Garden where they played Mozart in the background. Wonderful turkish dishes were on the menu but also more international ones like black cod and goat cheese salad, I’ve got a feeling this place’s gonna be visited often. As this place is surrounded by theaters they serve pre-theater menus for a very reasonable price, good to keep in mind if you’re heading to the West End for a theater eve out.

Rules are made to be broken so I ended up all in leather, skirt Zara, jacket Topshop, turtle neck Cos, boots Acne and bag Alexander Wang

I was supposed to spend this Sunday on a wine tasting outside London but a change of plans in the last minute, well, I’ll save that for another time. Ended up with a late brunch in at Le Pain Quotidien in Covent Garden where Christmas has slightly started, decorations in place and a naked Christmas tree but the smell of Gluhwein in the streets is still missing.

Fringe & Faux fur

Oh, I slept to long this morning but managed to catch some of the wonderful sunshine, had a brunch at the cosy bakery at Dover Street Market and a stop by the Acne store, no buys for me though, waiting for the right colors to hit the store. This eve will be spent at good friends house for dinner, I love those evenings!

Monday late eve

I ran out for a late dinner at a french brasserie in Soho, Cafe Boheme, to my big disappointment they removed some of my favorites from their menu, it’s not the first time and in a paranoid world I would say they all keep track on what I like and then remove it, eehh, that sounds insane right? Anyway, the dinner was good after all, and this place I highly recommend for brunch during weekends when they play live music.

Wednesday eve

I had a great late dinner out at Yauatcha yesterday, not only to they have the best dim sum in London but also their desserts are heavenly and light accompanied with asian flavoured ice cream and sorbets like ginger, green tea and lemongrass, mmmm….

My Sunday was pretty much as usual, it’s my holy day of the week where I prefer doing nothing and shut down all channels. As I was a bit tired (again) after the party the night before I went to an old favorite place of mine in Covent Garden. It might just be me but I have a special crawing on days like that, nothing beats a casserole of Moules Marinieres and french fries, just observing through the window people passing  and listening to the tones of the street musicians……

Food again

Grilled scallops & Lamb

Another good address in London, I feel blessed living here, there’s always a new great restaurant around your corner, like this place we tried yesterday, practically just across the street in St.Martin Lane Hotel. I often go to their bar but only tried the restaurant Asia De Cuba once before, this time it was so much better and on top of the tasty food I love the interior, bookshelves, portraits everywhere and light cables from the roof, it’s a busy place so booking needed.

Ok, I’m on my way out for a birthday party and I’m running late, enjoy the pics and have a lovely eve, Ciao!

A taste of Jamie’s Italian

Sorry guys for bad updating today, my Mac and WordPress is bothering me lots more than my physical state and I’ve been struggling for most of this day but I will be back for sure, anyway, here’s something I would like to share with you pasta lovers out there.

On Monday we headed to Jamie Oliver’s restaurant on St.Martin Lane in Covent Garden, the restaurant opened in June and even if it’s just around my corner it was the first time I tried it out. It’s an unpretentious place, with a high street feeling, quite simple traditional italian dishes but service was excellent and welcoming, the pasta was heavenly and as you can order different sizes of pasta you get the chance to taste several ones. I wouldn’t recommend the steak though but everything else we tried was superb, all in all a very pleasant surprise and for a reasonable price, I will for sure go back there again.

Red Light

So, an iphone 4 is on it’s way and should be in my hands tomorrow, today has been quite a test being without my phone, feels like someone chopped off my hands and it’s strange to think of the addiction to it when you first get used to it. How did people manage in the old days?

I have to admit I’m still a bit shaken up so I spent the day relaxing in Covent Garden and had a great brunch at Paul’s, their crepes are so jammy and I bet they have some of the best butter in london.
