Mule up

Chunky wedges and high heels can come and go as much as they like, but when it comes to investing in open toe staples I intend to spend long summer days in, chic comfort will always be a winner.
Personal favourites of mine this season are these wedges by Chloé that would go along with anything casual or not, while adding a pop to all other things monochrome.
One of these pairs will for sure be joining me on a tropical escape some day very soon.

Yours for £560 and you can find them here and here.

Off Shoulder Love

To me, baring a shoulder or two will always be timeless, classy ways to expose a little of that so erogenous zone, trending or not. However the latter happens to be on the radar right now, and so easy to achieve by playing around with classic shirts and cut out tops. Flaunting in the right upper area is the chicest way to add a bit of umpf to any skirt, trousers or jeans. For the confident DIY, working the scissors and needles on soft loose knitwear you love that hasn’t been worn for a while is also a personal favourite.

For the love of getting your shoulders out there I recently paired up with Net-a-Porter’s – The Edit in a short video to demonstrate and give a few tip on how to bare it for different body types in “The Style Solution” section. Please keep in mind though not to stick to “rules” too much, it can be so much more fun breaking them!
You’ll find all pieces included in the video here.

On my mind…

Collage created using TurboCollage software from

Whilst we’re at it, some of us feeling the January blues, with colder degrees descending every day and signs of spring still far away, here’s a few thoughts, picks and tips currently on my mind…

1. To urgently refill one of my cannot-live-without daily skin boosters, Santa Maria Novella’s fascial rose water, a product that hasn’t been credited enough, longlasting and you don’t need to dig very deep in your pockets either, but hard to find elsewhere than their own stores I’m afraid.
2. Chloe’s new killer python loafers!
3. A relaxing holiday escape to a coconut island instantly!!
4. Winter sales are still ongoing, and as a knitlover high quality cashmere is always a good investment, the knit above is by The Row on 40% sales at Net-a-Porter, who’s also offering winter sales up to 70% right now.
5. All things ruffled, on sleeves, collars and detailing, this top by Gucci is no exception.
6. I’m not the greatest fan of basket style bags, but this raffia basket by Balenciaga got me onboard at first glance.
7. Celine’s SS16 earrings!!
8. Colder weather does no wonders for my skin, but Bamford’s new serum certainly does, can’t recommend it enough, one of the best serums I’ve ever come across, and perfect for sensitive skin types.

January blues

Happy 2016 everyone, hope it’s been kind to you so far!

I tend to find myself in limbo land first week after new year every year, and never felt the energic kickstart with blank pages you’re supposed to fill with a better version of you in every area. Instead I’ve been working my ways through a pile of movies, hardly had a green leaf on my plate and I can’t recall where I placed my running shoes weeks ago, there you go, January blues.
Sartorial wise I’ve not been far away either, but as always great knits and cashmere can uplift many things dull and will be what I will stick to for a little longer, until spring inspiration finally kicks in and days visible longer, may it be soon!

Merry Christmas & All Best Wishes

Hedvig Opshaug 24.12.2015I’m wearing a knit dress by Dagmar (also here), Hedda is wearing a dress by Bonpoint.

It’s Christmas and I hope you’re all surrounded by people you love whether you’re celebrating or not. Like every year I’m with my family in the North of Norway where I grew up, no other place is more Christmassy to me than there, and though we haven’t been able to call it a proper white Christmas so far, the magic just happened, and snow is finally falling.

Wishing you all out there a wonderful Merry Magic Christmas too wherever you are!!!

Kisses from me & Hedda

The new December…

Hedvig Opshaug 12.12.2015-1

Hedvig Opshaug 12.12.2015-2

It feels like I’m repeating myself every winter, but every year with even stronger reason though, what happened to our traditional winter? We should all getting slightly worried environmentally wise as we all know, but from a pure sartorial and shallow point of view I’m certainly not complaining about the new 15 degrees December month.

Knits as outerwear has become my new December, and the latest specimen to my knitwear collection (an addict!) is this wool jumper by Preen, found at an online retailer I recently discovered, The Cult & Classic, which offers a great edit of just the latter, well picked cool seasonal pieces next to the classics we always look for by well known brands.
However, having the above said I might need to eat my own words any day soon, but until then…

Dear Santa

Collage created using TurboCollage software from

In the world I was brought up in wish lists hardly existed, you were given what others thought you needed. Most of the time the joy was “almost equal” over a pair of home knitted socks as for books, games and sport equipment. Though I do remember the hard to hide disappointment at the age of 5, staring at my first watch, while my little sister unwrapped the coolest barbie in town, then feeling ashamed afterwards towards my dad’s best intentions.

In fact today I find wish lists quite helpful, and it has saved me more than once when gifting others, having had the person in mind I wanted to treat. So I’ve teamed up with global online retailer, who offers free global shipping until 18th of December, to curate my Christmas wish list of their high level stock ranging from clothing, accessories, vintage and homewear. You can never go wrong with bags, shoes, lingerie, designer knits, scented candles, cosmetic cases, sunglasses, jewellery, furniture and books, to that special someone, do you hear that dear Santa?
Louis Vuitton vintage cosmetic case, sunglasses by Chloe, socks by Marni, lingerie by La Perla.

And whilst you’re at it, in the Christmassy spirit I mean, why don’t you donate towards a good cause or charity organisations close to your heart. This year I’ve picked Children With Cancer UK, but you can find a long list of non-profitable global organisations here. May everyone be merry!!!

Shapes and hemlines come and go, but I personally like to think I’m rather unaffected most of the time. I keep on repeating my long going love for cropped flares and all things comfortable knitted, cause it’s about knowing what you’re about instead of ticking all boxes. At the end of the day it’s down to great basics that works with everything, my forever mantra.

It would be silly trying to intellectualise the above, there’s no formula for casual flare and feeling comfortable, except get dressed with your heart and not head.
Wishing you a glorious mid week everyone!

Cyber Weekend!!!

Shearling coat by Joseph (40%), sunglasses by Acne Studios (30%), Sateen pillow case and duvet cover by Calvin Klein (25%), Rose Perfection Perfume by Robert Piguet (10%)Silver diamond rings by Monica Vinader (40%), Shampoo/conditioner/treatment set by Oribe (20%), Slingback by Manolo Blahnik (25%), Wool knitted dress by Stella McCartney (40%).

After having your mailboxes “attacked” by offers this week there can’t be a soul who’s missed out on the global discounted shopping phenomena this cyber weekend, officially kicked off yesterday, lasting until coming Monday midnight.

Speaking for myself it can almost have the opposite effect of wanting to shop at all being being met by flashing offers and promo codes in every direction, but over the years I’ve learned my do’s and don’ts when it comes to sales shopping. Keep focus on getting things on discounts that you’ve been eyeing for a while, refilling your already favourite beauty products, new luxurious bedsheets, look out for furniture and electrical deals, and don’t fall into the trap of stocking up with things you didn’t know you wanted just because the deal sounds too good!

See some of my personal top picks on discount this weekend above and I’ve listed some interesting online shopping sites below, and oh, look out for those shopping codes, not always as easy to find as the flashing discount number. Happy Cyber Weekend everyone!!

  2. Nordstrom: up to 50% off select styles

Being a self proclaimed sneaker’in I’ve stepped into many pairs over the years, and I’ve been a dedicated fan to Common Projects’s kicks for a long time. Despite trends leaning towards platform sneaker soles I personally prefer the neater models that perhaps more resembles classic plimsolls rather than the bulkier styles. And there’s a new hot neat kick in town, iconic stripes by Gucci, I just couldn’t resist!

Fall leaves

It’s mid November and so far we’re reliving another mild London fall, bare pins during winter months have become the new normal and I’m not to complain. Transitional dressing will always be a favourite, and allows easy fun layering instead of total wrapping. As part of my conscious choice of not wearing jeans all the time I actively remind myself to wear dresses and skirts as often as I can, we all know chilly winds can put an end to that any day soon.

Soft knitted dresses aside, the Irish designer, who once stated he hated to design dresses and evening wear, J.W. Anderson, has become my go-to for interesting, allrounder-dresses that works equally well daytime as evening, with trainers, flats or heels, even layered over shirts, knits or trousers. Probably it’s exactly his vision and ideology the reason why I’ve personally felt drawn to his dress creations. Farfetch always has a great selection by the designer and they tend to sell quickly (see here), but Resort 2016 drops are just around the corner, so stay tuned!

Being a lover of overalls and one-pieces, I love dungarees, come and go trends, they always feel current. I rediscovered my love for them during my pregnancy a few years ago (cliche!), but since my baby bump has gone my collection has grown rapidly in various styles.
This season my absolute favourite pair are these by Citizens of Humanity, with a perfect fit and wash, flattering wide legs, and not flared to the extreme(!). I’ve been living in mine this fall and have no plans of moving out very soon either. Dungarees and overalls are for all ages if you ever imagined any limits, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, tata!!

A lesson from men…

Umbrellas - Farfetch- The Northern Light

After many years in Rainland I’ve spent unknown amounts on rather cheap, not functional, nor good-looking, emergency umbrellas, who all happened to be just that too, not lasting much longer than the time to get transported away from the momental heavy rain attack, or being left behind and forgotten about shortly after. Maybe splurging more on a luxury upgrade would last a whole lot longer, incorporating it in your outfit sort of way. I would certainly think twice before leaving stylish investments like these above mindless behind, a lesson from my most stylish male friends…

You’ll find a great collection of stylish, timeless and genderless, works-with-everything umbrellas on, officially on my wishlist! Umbrellas by EtroAlexander McQueen and Swims above, ranging from £47 to £495.

Being a total knit nerd and a lover of “one pieces”, any well shaped dress that comes in the softest cashmere are to me clear favourites and certainly dominating on my wardrobe shelves. They’ve become my go-to’s on early morning drop offs, and any other occasions when the level of creativity hasn’t peaked, along with late evenings out. At the end of the day I’m a comfortable dresser, and what could compete with cosy knit dresses? This cosy A-shaped piece have been around since June, but still available in stores, a total keeper!

Demna Gvasalia to Balenciaga

After it was announced a few months back that Alexander Wang would be leaving his creative director role at Balenciaga, it’s been speculated who would be the successor.
Georgian designer, Demna Gvasalia, behind applauded Vetements, was this morning announced as Balenciaga’s new creative director and is expected to show his first collection in March 2016 in Paris.

Alexander Wang showcased his last show for iconic Balenciaga last week in Paris, and he ended his 3 years at the helmet with his best collection to date. See the full collection here.
